Aloha is....having courage.
This is the face of courage and proof you can never judge a book by its cover. This face belongs to my women empowerment "Tough Love & Coffee" podcast-partner-in-crime, Stasia Miller.
Behind these blue eyes and easy smile lies a very painful past riddled with domestic violence. Stasia was in an abusive marriage that started in her 20's and lasted for over 15 years. While she has physically moved on from this relationship and her physical wounds have healed, she is forever "in recovery" mentally and emotionally. It is just not something that is ever completely gone. Even though she went to therapy to help heal and move forward in her life, she still had trouble talking about it with others. In fact, there was only a small group of confidantes in her life that she told or that witnessed the abuse first hand, including her babysitter and children.
But instead of hiding in the shadows of shame, Stasia now chooses to transform her trauma into triumph by speaking about her experience and speaking out against domestic violence in the hopes that her wounds will serve as wisdom for someone else needing a guiding light to healing.
Today, for the first time, Stasia had the courage to share her story on air in an episode about self-worth and domestic violence. And, she handled it like a rock star! She wasn't too graphic, but she made her pain clear to our listeners and that was enough for us.
Knowing that her friends, family and co-workers could and would eventually hear this episode, Stasia is a brave warrior because she was willing to put her mission in empowering women above any feelings of shame, guilt or embarrassment. She has made peace with her past so that she may now live in peace and be an advocate for spreading peace and positivity into the world.
When you make your goals, dreams, visions and purpose bigger than your fears, other negative feelings, like doubt, worry, shame, guilt or embarrassment, simply won't survive. They will at least lessen in intensity when you see the power you have over them. Placing higher importance on your mission than your fears gives you the power to make a positive difference in your life and the lives of others. By sharing your life experiences - no matter how painful, negative or embarrassing - you just never know who you may be inspiring to take positive action that could transform their life. This is how YOU can make your mark in the world and help make it a better place to live.
Stasia, your aloha spirit shines extra bright today. I know your experience and wisdom will inspire others to make positive changes in their lives. I think it can even help save the lives of other women as well as the lives of their children!
So, keep sharing your story to shed light on this dark topic. Keep dreaming, believing and achieving!
In the meantime, thank you for sharing your aloha and for spreading aloha in the world!
Live, Love and Lead with Aloha!
