Having the Courage to Try Something New

Aloha is...having the courage to try something new or different!

Dr. Seuss says, "You'll never get bored when you try something new. There's really no limit to what you can do."

What holds people back from trying something new is fear, doubt, lack of confidence and an overwhelming desire to be perfect - again rooted in fear of criticism or even rejection.

But have compassion for yourself. It's OK not to be perfect at something, especially if it's something new or different. That's just common sense, right? There's truth to the process of trial and error. That's even how many inventions came to be - they were rooted in failed projects!  Therefore, all failures are just successes in their infancy stages!  The goal is to keep going and never give up.

Also, choose progress over perfection and enjoy the journey. Give yourself credit for trying something new and give yourself credit for every step you take in the direction of the desired results. In other words, celebrate the small victories as they can be just as rewarding. And, believe it or not, you don't have to be the best. Instead take pride in just giving your best! In so doing, you just may be surprised at where it might lead you and you could especially be surprised with the ultimate outcome. This is the secret to success!

Life is an adventure!  Life would be boring if we didn't get out of our comfort zone, act on impulse or try to be spontaneous from time to time. That's where the a-ha moments and miracles happen!

What are you going to do that's new or different? See what surprises are in store for you!

Live, Love and Lead with Aloha!
