Honoring Veterans

Aloha is..... Honoring all the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces both past and present. Happy Veterans Day! Today, we celebrate YOU and why America is strong and protected - because of YOUR courage and personal sacrifices.

Today, I honor my dad, who left the Bronx to serve in the Air Force during the Vietnam War. He was stationed at Clark Air Base, a logistics hub on Luzon Island in the Philippines where he loaded the planes with supplies. It's also where he met my mom and where I was born three miles away in Angeles City.

Also pictured here is my grandpa Tom McGee, who served in the Army Air Force in WWII and my great-grandfather John Henry "Harry" Rover (who my dad is named after), who served in the Army Air Corps. When he returned home from World War I, he received a Hero's Welcome from New York and was awarded both the bronze star and silver cross for capturing the Germans.
