Aloha is ...being young at heart. There's a time to be serious and a time to be silly. Life is too short to be serious all the time. We must learn to let go of the things we cannot control and appreciate and be grateful for the things we can. We can control who we choose to give our time, energy, and attention. We can choose to adopt an attitude of gratitude and positivity. We can choose love over fear. And, we can choose activities that bring us peace, joy, and happiness.
This summer, my Fridays have been dedicated to chasing sunsets and breathing in the beach air with my Aloha Vibes Partner-in-Crime, Happy. This year has been so rough that Happy and I chose the simple activities of coastal driving, eating, walking, talking, and laughing at the beach to improve our mental and emotional health and well-being. Sunsets are our reward.
Sunsets teach us that this too shall pass. We must simply see the beauty in our struggles, find the lessons they can teach us, and use them to rebuild our lives. They encourage us to let go and to try again tomorrow.
Sunsets remind us that while the day may be passing, life goes on with the birth of a new day to follow. While tomorrow is not promised to everyone, we can be hopeful. Today will come to an end, but there's hope for a better tomorrow for those who choose to believe it. Choose hope!
