Aloha is....celebrating with cake.
Yesterday, I wore a Hawaiian surfing t-shirt into Nothing Bundt Cakes. I asked the young lady for her suggestions for RAK cakes for my two neighbors. (I've only had one flavor because it's their only gluten-free one, so I picked that first.)
When she rang me up, she only charged me for two cakes. When I asked her why, she said every now and then she's allowed to give out a free one to a customer when she saw fit. She wanted to be my good neighbor and gift me a cake. I ALMOST CRIED. I was having a bummer day and looked like a hot mess. When I told her about my aloha mission and how she had the aloha spirit, she smiled, saying she saw my t-shirt...so she believed me.
I was going to save the cake for my weekend but today's guilty verdict in the George Floyd trial gave me reason to celebrate. All their speeches about humanity and justice for all races deeply touched and comforted me....even if just for the moment. "Justice for George means freedom for all."
I can have hope...We all can have hope!
