Aloha is....learning new things and making deeper connections with old acquaintances.
Who knew I could have anything in common with a professional ballerina?
Kerry and I graduated from NMHS Class of '89. However, we never had a single class together so I never knew her. Yet that didn't stop us from connecting decades later thanks to social media. In the last year or so, we've learned that we are more alike than we are different - on both personal and professional levels.
I cannot express enough how grateful I am to get to know this woman, her amazing journey in life and how she's shared her passions along the way to make a positive and purposeful mark upon this world. As an educator, instructor and inspirational leader in her own right, she molds the minds of our youth through movement. But, if she hadn't reached out with a kind word or two in response to my journey in aloha, I never would've had the opportunity to truly know what a beautiful human being she was. Our conversations always give me hope, faith and validation that I'm on the right path and encouragement to keep going. And, I am proud to call her my friend.
Who does that for you? Remember, we need not go far to find a superhero. They live among us every day. So, take the time to get to know your neighbors or acquaintances and find yours today! I'm grateful I did!
Thank you, Kerry and Grace, for opening your hearts and your home to me this weekend! I'm going back to Cali next week knowing I'm her favorite fetch partner! LOL
