Age Doesn't Define Me

16 May

I am turning the big 5-0 in five months! I keep asking myself, how did this happen? In my mind I'm still 28, but every day my body tells me otherwise. With every stubborn pound I gain, body ache I nurse, and eye wrinkle that spreads like a spider web, I am reminded of my actual age.

I believe in the power of "firsts." In other words, I love the boost of self-esteem, courage, and confidence that comes from doing something for the first time. It's empowering!

Therefore, while most people would face this milestone with dread, I intend to embrace it instead by doing 50 things I've never done before by my birthday. I guess you could call it a bucket list. This bucket list will be one of my strategies for staying young.

Most people wait to focus on their bucket list in retirement. But why wait? Why not start living your life to the fullest now? If there's anything this last year taught us it's that we are not promised tomorrow. So, seize the day!

From cooking new recipes and trying new hobbies to making a new friend or going somewhere new, I will say yes to as many new opportunities as possible. While cultivating an open mind and spirit of spontaneity is important for my personal growth, I also intend to focus on an attitude of gratitude for all the things I'm still able to learn, do, or try.

Don't let age define you. Use it to refine and redefine you! You are never too old to set a new goal, dream another dream, or try something new or different. And it's never too late to live your best life!

Today is my first step on this new adventure! I'm doing a very small and easy activity with my stepson. Stay tuned for details!

In the meantime, I hope my bucket list inspires you to live your life to the fullest today!

Live, love, and lead with Aloha.
