“Do what you can, with what you have, where you are.” — Theodore Roosevelt
We sometimes don’t give ourselves enough credit for all that we do. We are so focused on being the best that anything less doesn’t seem to matter. But, it does matter.
Life is not about being the best. Life is about doing your best. If you’re doing everything you can with what you have, you’re giving 100%. And, if you’re giving 100%, you are doing your best.
When you’re doing your best, you may even be surprised by how that compares to others. But, you need not compare yourselves to others at all. In fact, comparing is a waste of time and energy because your effort is all that matters. What you do day in and day out is what matters most.
If you know you’re giving 100%, that is all you need to know to feel good enough. If you think there’s more to learn, then learn it! But, give yourself time to learn it. We all could learn more and do more. But, learning takes time as does applying what you’ve learned.
In the meantime, don’t beat yourself up or be too critical. Being harsh on yourself won’t necessarily make you better any faster. It will only make you feel bad. And, feeling bad can actually delay your progress!
If you really want to do better or be better faster, then get better at being good to yourself. Give yourself a break for learning or doing something new or different. Give yourself praise and recognition for every achievement along the way. And, give yourself credit for giving 100% effort.
Use this affirmation to keep you motivated, to keep you encouraged, and to keep you going no matter how far you have yet to go!
