It's My Life

Raise your hand if everyone’s always trying to tell you how to live your life.

From what to do about your relationship and when to ask for a raise to how long you should exercise and what to eat, our days are filled with the phrase, "here's what you should do." Whether we ask for advice or not, we're constantly being told how to live our lives. Oftentimes we’re even told what to do by people who have no clue either!

Welcome to adulthood. It is a not-so-amusing park where you have a full-access pass to life’s craziest rides 24/7. So, buckle up, buttercup!

Sure, there will be ups and downs. Sure, you’ll take a wrong turn, or two. Sure, you're bound to get sick. And, sure, you’ll hear the screams of guilt, shame, and regret ringing in your ears long after the ride is over. But, you can feel confident knowing that it is still your life.

Your life is what you make of it. There will be plenty of twists, turns, dips, and cliffhangers. And, just when you think you’ve recovered from the last ride, the next one is about to start.

But, that is what makes life so exciting, too. At some point the ride will end, but you can hop onto another one, and hope for the best. If you didn't like a particular ride, reflect on you've learned from it before considering it again. In the meantime, take each ride as they come.

It is your life, and it is up to you how you want to live it. You have the power of choice. So, choose wisely. But, just know that whatever choices you make, you are the one who has to live with it. You can’t blame anyone else for the consequences of your actions.

Life can be unfair sometimes. But, you still have control over your attitude and actions. Instead of letting life take over, take charge of your own life.

Take chances. Take leaps of faith. And, take your time. There's no need to rush. Take life one day at a time, and live each day to the fullest.
