Start Your Day with Three Deep Breaths

It's Monday. Take a deep breath, or three.

Did you know that the literal meaning of aloha is "the breath of life?" Today's tip is to encourage you to take more deep breaths to get more out of life.

We underestimate the power of the breath. Let's face it. We take breathing for granted because it's an automated function of our body.

Let's break it down. Oxygen is vital to life. Breathing brings oxygen into the body.  Blood carries oxygen to every part of your body. It helps all your organs, tissues, and glands function at their best.  

Breathwork is an exercise that promotes self-care. It's also a tool to reset your mindset and boost your mood. Deep breathing helps calm your mind, relax your body, and lift your spirits. A calmer mind leads to calmer reactions and actions. Calmer or more controlled positive actions create better results and outcomes in life.

Deep breathing is especially helpful when you're feeling blue. “Feeling blue” is a phrase associated with feeling sad. But, it can be associated with any negative emotion, including fear, anger, loneliness, grief, depression, anxiety, stress, frustration, and embarrassment.

Take deep breaths whenever you feel blue. Start with 3-4-5 breathwork. Inhale through your nose over three counts, hold your breath for four counts, then exhale forcefully through your mouth over five counts.

Do at least three rounds of breathwork, but add as many as you need until you feel calm, cool, and collected to start your day or to face any problem or challenge ahead.
