I Am a Warrior

02 Oct

Here's an excerpt of my opinion on Chrissy Teigen sharing her miscarriage on social media.

TRAUMA. This word scares people. Just hearing the word I know people who immediately shut down, tune out, or walk away. The thought of trauma - never mind processing it - scares the living daylight out of some people. I believe those willing to face it are the bravest on Earth. I believe those willing to face it, process it (in any way they can at that moment with what they have), and share it are warriors. They are the ones who can make a difference in the lives of others. They become ambassadors for healing, mental health, self-love and peace.
When they fight through the so-called shame of their experience, they help shatter stigmas and NORMALIZE grief and healing. Some would rather NUMB IT OUT with drugs, booze, or other self-destructive way.
Lastly, I believe they not only SURVIVE their trauma but they also THRIVE as a result. They are more likely to recover from their tragedies and TRY AGAIN. While others would be destroyed!

I know you might not like her photo. I know it might make it too real or too raw for you. I know that might be uncomfortable for you. Most would feel more comfortable seeing her happy and smiling while posing in a bikini for Sports Illustrated, right? Oh no. Then we'd find something else to pick apart.

Chrissy showed less skin in this photo than her modeling days. But people are uncomfortable with TRAUMA, PAIN, SADNESS, EMOTIONS, and LOSS. They make you feel naked and exposed in a different way.

Chrissy is allowed to take that moment to process her pain just like some would take to therapy or journaling. She's an open book and some people can't stand that because that is not who THEY are.

🍍YOUR REACTION and response is a reflection of where YOU are in your journey. We all have our own journeys.

SHE CHOSE TO STAND IN THE LIGHT IN ONE OF THE DARKEST MOMENTS OF HER LIFE.

WHEN YOU CANNOT FIND THE LIGHT, BE THE LIGHT.

AND, SHINE...
