“The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.” - Eleanor Roosevelt
This is one of my favorite quotes I leaned on for years before moving to San Diego. While I was living through cold winters in Connecticut, there were many times I’d sit on my couch, daydreaming about warmer days in California. I'd picture myself walking the beach, watching sunsets, and feeling the sunshine on my skin. I had no clue how I was going to get there, but I chose to believe I would. In the meantime, I clung to this quote as if my life depended on it.
When life is hard, we can easily get discouraged from taking enough steps in the direction of our dreams. We can feel so defeated that we can convince ourselves that it will take too long to get there. If we marinate too long on how hard it would be to make our dream come true, we can stop and give up.
It would be a shame to give up on the beauty of your dreams. The present is where you plant the seeds of success for your future. Take whatever time necessary to nurture your self-belief and to nourish your dreams with the proper actions to help them grow. In time, they're bound to blossom. But, this is not a process that can be rushed.
In the meantime, don’t put off doing something today that your future self will thank you for. There’s always something you can do to keep your dreams alive. And, sometimes it means taking a step back before you can continue moving forward.
It’s OK to take a break from your goals and dreams. Taking a break doesn’t mean giving up. It simply means giving yourself the time you need to regroup, reevaluate, recharge, and reset.
As with anything, you just might need some rest from time to time. Take advantage of that time to stop and assess what you’ve done so far. Evaluate your actions and the results you’ve achieved. From there, you can decide what you want to continue, change, learn, do, or try next. Taking this time will also help reset your mindset. Once you’re ready, you can begin again.
You deserve the time and effort to create the future of your dreams. And, you deserve for all your dreams to come true! Keep dreaming, believing, and achieving!
